Panama Pineapple Thief
Pineapple Thief is back! This natural processed Yellow Catuai is a big time favourite in our assortment each year. This year's crop is a sweet coffee with a fruity and intense taste of mango, yellow plum and strawberry.
Graciano Cruz’ farm Los Lajones is located on the hills of Volcán Barú, at an altitude of 2,000 m.a.s.l. This makes it one of the highest farms in all Central America. To simply call it a coffee farm would be to reduce it, because it is a veritable jungle with an incredibly rich plant and animal life. Of the farm's 160 hectares, only 35 are planted with coffee, the rest is primarily forest which is home to 40% more insects and 20% more birds compared to average farms. The farm has been owned by Graciano since 1992 and he mainly cultivates Yellow Catuai and Geisha.
Our relationship with Graciano extends back to Johan & Nyström's founding. When he first started producing his coffee as Naturals and Honeys, many were shaking their heads. Coffee from Panama shouldn't taste like that!? Graciano dared to go his own way and after that many producers have followed in his footsteps with coffees that today conditions some of the highest coffee prices in the world.
