Finally, we can once again offer a washed coffee from the well-known region of Yirgacheffe in Ethiopia! Ethiopia Haru is a fresh and intense coffee with floral elegant flavors of white currant and peach.

Coffee from Yirgacheffe became famous about twenty years ago with its incredibly lively flavors of jasmine and peach. Yirgacheffe is part of Gedeo in southern Ethiopia which is one of six administrative zones, known as woredas. Coffee has been grown in the region for centuries. What gives coffee from Yirgacheffe its unique flavors is a mixture of the altitude, which is sometimes over 2000 meters high, and special varieties of coffee such as Kurume, Dega, Wolisho, 74110 and 74112.

The Haru washing station has been run by the Berhanu family since 2014. Here, coffee is processed for 2,000 small-scale growers, each of whom grows coffee on an average of 0.5 hectares of land. After the coffee berries are left at the washing station, they are sorted by hand to remove defects and unripe berries picked by mistake. The pulp is then removed and the coffee beans are washed clean to finally dry in the sun on a drying table.
